Gameplay is vastly vastly more simpler, but will still take 2-3 hours your first game with 4 people. Each round a battleground and a path show up which represents concurent events of where the hobbits and where battles occur. Both sides can fight for battlegrounds and they're worth points. Paths are also worth points.
Remove the Jokers and shuffle the deck. Cut your deck and shuffle again. In a two-player game the deck is dealt evenly at 26 cards each. If more than two players are joining in, simply deal the cards out evenly to each player. Players should keep their cards facing down; you don’t want your opponent to see your cards.

Firstly, the overall game. As a 2P+ game, it really is good imo. You play either the Shadow Player or Free People (SP or FP). FP is trying to either destroy the ring by progressing the fellowship to mount doom, or by gaining 4 VP by capturing SP settlements. SP is trying to win by capturing 10VP of FP settlements or corrupt the ringbearer.
